In a first since its inception, Cosplay Mania 2024 was held for 3 days from October 4 to 6 at the SMX Convention Center. Naturally, the Usapang Cosplay Team was there on Day 1 to get a feel of what to expect from the highly anticipated annual cosplay convention.
Naturally, the team decided to take on the challenge of doing the quest and visiting the various booths in the map, doing all the activities, and ultimately claiming the prize after completion. That was just the 1st half as you can’t have a Cosplay Mania without the JAM Concert to cap off the evening. In a celebration of Japanese anime music, Cosplay Mania’s JAM Concert on Day 1 treated fans to an amazing night.
Opening the JAM Concert was Diane Sabandeja and the Angel Squad. Dressed up as characters based on the 2.5 Dimensional Seduction anime, the Angel Squad wowed the crowd with their energetic dance performance which can really get you hyped, as any opening act should. And then the main event.
First on stage was the amazing Japanese singer Chiai Fujikawa who wowed the crowd with her amazing voice. If anybody in attendance during that night was a fan of the anime, The Rising of the Shield Hero, then they were in for a treat as Fujikawa-san’s lineup had many songs from that series.
And to conclude the concert after Fujikawa-san’s amazing performance was Vocaloid producer KZ (Livetune) who got the crowd pumped up with amazing DJ skills. As a Vocaloid producer, KZ definitely got the Hatsune Miku fans’ attention with his songs being sung by the famous virtual singer in various segments of his session.
All in all, it was a very exhausting Day 1 for Cosplay Mania 2024 with a combination of roaming the halls and jamming with some amazing musical talents during the JAM Concert. And remember that was just the first day. Team Usapang Cosplay definitely had a blast and there were 2 more days to go so the coverage is far from over.
